Listen to Your Soul

  • Crack of dawn.
  • Exercise.
  • Ready, set… Work.
  • Concentrate.
  • Race here. Race there.
  • Housework.
  • Pay bills.
  • Feed them. Feed you (kind of).
  • Exhausted.
  • Can’t sleep.

For many women, this is the merry-go-round we ride. On top of this, we seek a deeper meaning in life and reach into our relationships, our careers, our environment to find the reason for being. Our satisfaction unmet as our busyness keeps us going around.

Am I in the right relationship? Is my career the right one? Should I be living somewhere else? Should I be doing more? Is it time to ask yourself: ‘What the hell am I doing?’’

Stop. Breathe. I mean really breathe. Inhale through your nose, as if for the first time. Fill up your lungs and diaphragm until your tummy is pushing out and you look like you’re 5 months pregnant. Exhale from your mouth in a big ‘ahhhh!’ Head spin? Yeah that’s the ticket.

Close your eyes and ask yourself: am I living my purpose? Write down in a journal the first thing you see/feel/know/sense. This is being mindful and listening to your soul. Got nothing? Breathe again. Find your stillness through breathing. Wait for the flash of… something.

This is relearning what came natural from birth. Over time your journal messages will become clear. Right now, we’ve lost touch. Busy life. High expectations. Challenges never ending. Being everything for everyone. Reconnect with your soul, in the simplest of ways, and it’ll bring you answers.
